In one of the shop fronts, there's a sign that simply says: 'Sawdust: Custom Made Carpentry and Woodworks'. Written neatly without pretension with a bit of hand-drawn leaves and a branch in the corners. Inside looks like a straight up workshop that smells of wood, with a makeshift office in the front and the meat of the operation in the back.

There is no price list, as most of the work done is on a custom and commissioned basis. (Meaning that the price is negotiable.)

World Description: (Original Characters Only)

The world in which August lives is a lot like our own, except the Supernatural does exist and mostly lives off in another dimension on the edges of each continent of the world, away from human contact for nearly four hundred years due to constant conflict with the humans. (So they are in the history books, but the last confirmed sighting of a Vampire, Werewolf, Fae, or etc in America was in 1728. So most are thought of as legend.) Those that chose to stay in the human world either assimilated into human culture or chose to stay in the roughest, most hidden terrain possible, visible to humans only with the gift of farsight.

But every once in a while, a human is just careless enough to live where the hidden communities are and has the ability to see past the disguises.

History: Born in Sacramento, California to two former hippies turned urban professionals. They raised the young August as any normal Californian kid with his younger sister, Sonya. His mother Claudia adored forests and nature, often took the family on camping trips. (Rumor had it that she was a bit of clairvoyant and could see things most humans couldn't, but nearly everyone around her thought it was a holdover from her drug-filled hippie days.) At the age of twelve, August's mother died of cancer, affecting him quite deeply.

August's father, Leif moved all over the country after his wife's passing, taking any kind of job to kill his boredom and sadness. Because of this, August didn't really have a stable home or friends. (And his sister had enough of the constant moving and decided to live with her maternal grandparents when she was twelve, leaving just August and his dad.) Not long after his freshman year of High School, August soon fell into a bad crowd of drug abusers to supplant the feelings of loneliness and isolation he felt at the time. He spent most of his time with them, running away from home and dropping out of school to stay in Boston. While the friends he had were true and encouraged him to nurture his love for nature and writing, the habits they had were pretty much destroying his health. Throughout his mid-to-late twenties, he went in and out of rehab. (He also could see people and things that most couldn't see in the city, but at the time he assumed that was the drugs.)

Leif eventually settled down and wanted to make amends to his children, through Sonya he started talking to his son again. After some years of recovery, August earned a GED and was working as a carpenter in Boston when Sonya called and asked him to come over to Oregon to help her move. He ended falling in love with the state, saved up over the course of four years and ended up moving to a small town called Draper in a small wood cabin at least thirty miles away from his sister, who works as a police officer in the neighboring Keene.

He managed to find a job working the deli at the grocery store and managed to remember how to live in the forest again, he even picked up hunting and fishing. Until one day he fell asleep over a tree with his gun on the side of him, he woke up and was somewhere else getting tied up by gnomes. (That really didn't look like the lawn ornament.) He managed to get away and spent the next couple of weeks in his cabin, flat out wary of the forest.

After a few weeks, he decided to go back in. Because it made no sense to be afraid of a place that's given him such peace for years. He discovered all sorts of people and creatures living there. He began talking to the ones that he could, and started recording his finding in a private journal of his.

One day while hunting, he up and disappeared.

Personality: August is fairly low-key, chill, and sort of shy. He can't take much loud noises, crowded places, or too many parties. Because of this, he can tend to get isolated really easily which he tries to avoid. He has a bond with his younger sister, Sonya. And he doesn't like being too far away from her. He tries his best not to get too angry or rattled, as that tends to trigger him to drug addiction.

He desires companionship, a friend, or a family of sorts. He had a group of friends he hung about with during his addict days, but had to drop them once he got clean leaving him with few people to talk to. Romantic relationships often tend to elude him and confuse him. But that doesn't keep him from crushing on some girls. (And baby, if you got dark hair and you look like you could be an elf, the crushes might happen.)

He is used to the outdoors (although it might take him a bit to be used to the climate change and the change in flora anf fauna), and is used to the weirder/questionable aspects of people, therefore he doesn't judge too harshly. (Is rather reluctant on the latter, since that tends to cause stress and make him use again.) His weaknesses include the fact that he can be isolated very easily, he can be triggered by an excess of weaker drugs (weed, painkillers) to use his favorite of choice (heroin),  and can sometimes be too curious for his own good when it comes down to stranger things.

Despite this, an innate desire awakened in him to know more about the world beyond humans and he craves any sort of knowledge about them. He does recognize the danger that could come from this, and will back away, even run if necessary. (But never quite keep away, after all he feels he may have found his purpose in life at last.)

Does your character have any close ties to existing canon characters? N/A

Why do you think your character would work in this setting? August will flux in, leaving him confused and bewildered. (After all, a couple of months ago he just discovered that legends were true in his homeworld, living at a space colony might take some time, we admit.) Still he'd adore the town, with so many different people and new things from beyond this earth to look at, talk to and record.

What will your character do for work? I imagine August opening up his own carpentry shop, Sawdust. He will make furniture and various other fancy things you require wood to become.

Inventory: Will come with a small brown leather journal on him and just his shotgun. That's about it.

Third-Person Sample: It was a normal day off work, the sound of the birds, the familiar crackle of woods underneath his foot as he walks, August even faintly hears the music the forest elves are making at this time. It's wonderful, and August wouldn't trade it for anything.

He starts walking toward the nearest stream to get a little drink of water and say hello to the water spirits that make the place their home. He starts thinking about what made him come over to this place of forests, this place that he honestly loves with all his heart. Sonya got him here and perhaps he's grateful for making the choice to move here.

As he walks, there's a growing noise as he walks forward, it doesn't sound too familiar but it doesn't sound like anything he should be wary of. (There's plenty of strange things, people and creatures he probably hasn't met in this place yet.)

He hears a sudden rustle in the leaves, turns to look for where the noise came from. But there's nothing and he continues on. Another noise, and August starts to become suspicious. He doesn't know whether to run to see what exactly it is. (He just came to scout out places to hunt for later on, that's all.)

It's a strange crackling noise like something electronic, definitely not of this world. But August has been all over these woods. He and all the other beings here would know if someone installed something like this...

Without warning, August sees the scenery shift around him with the crackle he's been hearing all this time in the woods being all about. Now he's in a different place, in the middle of a desert. He looks about, deep set gray-blue eyes stretched out in a bit of shock.
